The Ottawa County Parks Foundation is pleased to welcome Scott Blinkhorn to its Board of Directors. Scott Blinkhorn brings more than four decades of professional experience in health care and higher education to the Ottawa County Parks Foundation Board. Over the course of his career, Scott worked with four health agencies serving West Michigan, followed by Grand Valley State University, where he concluded his professional journey.
Scott and his wife, Carla, moved to Ottawa County from Kent County approximately 18 years ago. While they were initially familiar with a few local parks, they soon discovered the remarkable scope and quality of the Ottawa County Parks system. As they explored more parks over time, their appreciation for the opportunities these natural spaces provide residents and visitors alike continued to grow.
A lifelong Michigan resident, Scott has lived on the east side, central region, and west side of the state. He has also traveled extensively throughout Michigan, the United States, and internationally. He says his travels have only deepened his appreciation for what makes Ottawa County such a special place to live.
Scott and Carla have been married for 42 years and have a son, daughter-in-law, and two grandchildren who also call Ottawa County home. Motivated by his enjoyment of the parks and their importance to the community, Scott began volunteering with the Foundation through committee and project work. He is pleased to continue supporting the parks by offering his time, talents, and resources to help ensure Ottawa County Parks remain a treasured asset for generations to come.
